GS1 Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN)

The Global Data Synchronization Network is an internet-based, interconnected network of interoperable data pools and a global registry (the GS1 Global Registry) that enable companies around the globe to access and exchange standardized and synchronized supply chain data with their trading partners securely in real-time. The GDSN is built around the GS1 Global Registry, GDSN certified Data Pools, the GS1 Data Quality Framework and GS1 Global Product Classification, which, when combined, provide a powerful environment for secure and continuous synchronization of accurate data.

GS1 eCom

GS1 eCom provides global standards for electronic business messaging that allow rapid, efficient and accurate automatic electronic transmission of agreed business data between trading partners. eCom is a GS1 term used for the Electronic Data Interchange technology, which can be defined as "the transfer of structured data, by agreed message standards, from one computer application to another, by electronic means and with a minimum of human intervention".

GS1 eCom provides two complementary standards for business messaging:

Based on GS1 eCom standards, GS1 Hong Kong developed ezTRADE, which is an industry-wide B2B platform facilitating electronic transaction messaging via EDI and Web to support electronic ordering, invoicing and shipment notices.  In 2010, over 1.8 million transactions were handled by ezTRADE for more than 2,000 Hong Kong and Mainland China suppliers.

Electronic Product Code Information Services (EPCIS)

The Electronic Product Code Information Services (EPCIS) is an open standard used to track progress of objects as they move through the supply chain. The data shared at each read point in the supply chain provides WHAT, WHEN, WHERE and WHY of each read. The EPCIS standard provides the Information Services necessary for the storage, communication and dissemination of EPC data. It also provides standards event capture and query interfaces for obtaining and sharing data about unique objects in the supply chain within and across organizations. GS1 Hong Kong offers an EPCIS-based track and trace solution, namely ezTRACK™. Aiming at sharpening the supply chain edge of local businesses of any size, the globalized track and trace platform provides companies with real-time visibility of goods and product information flow at any point in the supply chain.
